Convenient and space saving

Outward opening windows are common throughout the world. "Top-Hung" solutions where the window sash can be tilted outwards, are available from Roto in widths up to 1200mm. Also outward opening "Side-Hung" solutions are available for widths up to 700mm. Both window types can be easily operated with one hand.

The high gasket-compression closes windows both tight and rainproof. Generally speaking, outward opening top or side hung windows are appreciated for the fact that they do not encroach on the living area and they enable the use of slimmer profiles, which allow more light to enter the room.

Windows in America.

Outward opening side-hung "casement" and outward opening top-hung "awning" windows with crank openers are particularly popular in North America and Canada. Due to the frequent use of insect screens, direct access to the sash is often not possible; for this reason, cranked operators are used, transferring the operating force from the frame to the sash.

The window can be opened conveniently up to 90 degrees and closed with the casement operator. Casement windows close particularly well; as the wind presses up against the closed window, the gaskets are automatically pressed tightly together.

A further advantage: Window sashes do not encroach on the living area. In this case, the window sill can be used as shelf space. Casement hardware can be used in both PVC and timber profiles.
